As we approach summer time, many of us take advantage of the beautiful Pacific Northwest weather by being outside with our friends and family. I love being in nature! It’s a great way to recharge and de-stress while enjoying all the beautiful blooms and the occasional bald eagle or bunny that scampers across my path. I usually have my dog, Yoshi, with me when I’m out and about and I recently started carrying around a grabber stick and a plastic bag with me on our walks because I got tired of seeing trash all over the place. It has been both an enriching and disturbing experience for me. Enriching because it feels good to feel like I’m doing my part to clean up the environment, and disturbing because of the appalling amount of garbage that litters the streets, parks, and beaches. Since I’ve been actively looking for garbage, I started seeing it everywhere!
The Grabber Stick
The grabber stick I use was the best $1.50 I’ve spent in a while! Of course, I bought it at my favorite store, Daiso. If you haven’t been there yet, you need to go! You’ll thank me later ;) With my grabber stick I’m able to pick up small cigarette butts to bottles and cans with such ease and efficiency. Even I was impressed!
If we all do our part in our little corner of the world, we can make a huge difference in helping to make our environment a cleaner place for us and the animals that share our living space and it will make spending time outdoors even more enjoyable!
